The Bakersfield Guy's Newsletter! Issue #15
A local curator of bacon, a legendary venue has its last show and your guide to what's happening this week in Bakersfield!

I officially bought the domain for TheBakersfieldGuy.com! It doesn’t do a whole lot hahaha It just leads you to the newsletter but it’s a start. I will be working on expanding on it slowly but surely! I’m really excited for what’s to come guys. I have more in the works.
Local Business Spotlight
Who Loves Bacon— A local bacon lover
I was reached out by someone via email that I should go and try his dad’s business all about Bacon a few months ago. I’ve been meaning to stop by since then, and a few Saturdays ago I finally got the opportunity to stop by, and let me tell you it did not disappoint.
I went in randomly to the Riverlakes Farmers Market and roamed around until I found the stand, Who Loves Bacon. I was greeted by a big smile by the owner who started telling me everything I needed to know about his company and his love for his bacon. I didn’t tell him his son sent me so I could get a genuine customer experience. He had a big smile and told me so much about his bacon!
I bought one of his handy pieces of bacon on a stick that you can eat on the spot. It was cooked to perfection with hot honey. So darn good.

Cooked to perfection!

Flavors for the Bacon on a stick
I also brought home one of his packs of Bacon and ate them on some homemade Hamburgers. I forgot to get pictures of that, but the black pepper bacon went perfect with my burger. Please shop local and go give them a try! They’re located Saturdays at the Riverlakes Farmers Market at Centennial High School from 9AM-1PM and on Sundays at the Haggin Oaks Farmers Market at 8800 Ming Ave. from 9AM-2PM. Follow Who Loves Bacon on Instagram, and check out the website WhoLovesBacon.com where you can order bacon as well!

Local News
Buck Owen’s Crystal Palace Closes
I talked about it on an issue a while ago, but Buck Owen’s family announced on the Crystal Palace IG that they we going to fulfill the rest of the scheduled shows and close their doors.
I was able to attend the last show. It was beautiful and heavy knowing it was the last one. I wanted to share a few photos.

Buck Owen’s 1972 Pontiac Grand Ville!

A shot from the balcony of the show. Feels like so much could be done.
The Buck family was trying to shop the building. Somewhere in between 7-10 million USD from what I heard. For now it appears that the legendary Crystal Palace is done. Let’s hope someone with a lot of money can keep the legacy alive.
